From the Pastor's Desk...

Merry Christmas

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests. (Luke 2:14)"... the angels declared to some bewildered shepherds who had previously no idea that such a monumental event was taking place. Christmas, when we blow away the smokescreen of commercialism, is such a wonderful and precious time of the year. We are yet again reminded of the importance of Christ and His purposes in our lives, a time when families can be together and enjoy each other's company. It is also a time to reflect upon Christ's eventual return to bring everlasting peace on earth.

Many people feel ‘flat' at Christmas as there is so much to do in preparing for the holiday season, it is almost as if we need a holiday from preparing to holiday. Sometimes I wonder if the hurriedness of the season is designed to keep us away from the reason for the season. It is my prayer, this year, that as we celebrate Christmas with family and friends that we might take the time stop and relax, take time to thank God for the blessings that have flowed throughout the year and commit to him the trials that will spill over into the New Year. I also pray that we would all experience the gift of peace dwelling richly within us so that despite the hustle and bustle around us we might have His peace that transcends all understanding (Phil 4:7).

There is great ‘joy to the world' for the Saviour has come, so may you experience His joy, peace, love and presence this Christmas and throughout the coming year.
